CrossFit Competition: Halloween Edition

happy sunday! i hope you're all having a lovely weekend filled with all your favorite people and things! we've had some unusually warm weather for november in massachusetts but yesterday and this morning felt as autumn should: blustery, crisp, surrounding by dancing leaves and with the world covered in a gold blanket. it's so ironically poetic as all this beauty comes from dying leaves.. and i'm trying to soak up every second before the world turns gray as winter approaches.

my saturday was definitely been filled with some of my favorite people.. my gym hosted its annual halloween crossfit competition and we celebrated my brother's birthday.. so much excitement for one day!

as i've talked about before, our decision to join crossfit was one of the best i made. the sport has made me physically and mentally so much stronger, i've met some of my closest friends and there is nothing better than finishing your hour long workout, covered in sweat and out of breath - knowing you'll be back for more tomorrow. i know it can be an intimidating sport to try, but you won't find a place with more camaraderie and motivating people.

each competition my gym hosts has different rules.. this weekend was our halloween competition with teams of three - chosen by our coaches - and each team had to complete 4 workouts. and since it was halloween, everyone dressed up which made the competition so much more fun.. nothing better than watching mickey mouse, ketchup or a powder puff girl do burpees or snatches!
my team decided to be peter pan, captain hook and tinker bell and ben's team was mickey mouse, minnie mouse and daisy duck.
and the competition was on.. starting with this terrible sled pull.. that looked like it should have been a lot easier than it actually was. turns out, eight 45lb plates get heavy.. who knew?
there was lots of row and assault biking.. these hooter (aka "drooper") ladies killed it.
and all the tutus and glitter and feathers.. which left a trail everywhere we went!
love this ninja, hooters girl, daisy duck, harlem globe trotter, skeleton and 80s chick!
my team even managed to come in third place.. awesome work peter pan and captain hook!!
oh and never mind my partner's extra large stuffed penis.. boys will be boys..
