riding the motorcycles up to laconia, new hampshire's bike week every june has quickly become a tradition ben, my brother and myself have started to take part in together.
last year i road up on the bike with ben which was a rough 2+ hours.. all highway and about one million degrees. and probably the worst part was trying to pack both of our clothes for 3 days in a tiny bag. this year i smartened up, packed a much larger bag and followed them up in my car.. it also worked out since this year felt like winter on the highway. then when we arrived in new hampshire, i ditched the jeep and hopped on the bike with ben. much better.
so we go up during bike week but usually only spend a couple hours wandering around the craziness. then we leave the downtown and spend most of our time in meredith which has cute restaurants, ice cream, a winery, a candy store and lovely lake views.. much better than looking at trashy t-shirts and motorcycles.
our first day i convinced ben and derek (my brother) to bring me to the winery.. which they thoroughly enjoyed just as much as i did! ben and i discovered hermit woods winery by accident a couple of years ago and always have to make a trip to visit when we're in the area. they have so many different wines as well as sparkling wines which are similar to ciders, an awesome patio to hang out on and recently added food to purchase. we each grabbed a glass, a charcuterie board and spent a few hours laughing.
for dinner we went to town docks which is across the street and right on the lake. they had live music, simple food, good drinks and we had the best company. oh, and they have ice cream.. which you need after every dinner on a summer vacation.
the following morning we grabbed breakfast and headed down to "bike week" which is basically a street that is closed off to cars and filled with thousands of motorcycles and tents selling t-shirts and other paraphernalia.. and has some of the best people watching you'll ever find.
derek was only able to stay one night with us despite me telling him to call out of work the next day (he's responsible.. loser.. ha, who am i kidding.. i've never called out of work in my life).. but ben and i were able to have one of the best romantic dinners at lago which has outdoor seating right on the lake and delicious food.
we wrapped up our trip the next morning at cup & crumb and the candy store at mill falls before heading home..
.. to this little lady who appears to have missed her daddy
