it's crazy how fast time passes... i feel like it was last week that ben and i were curled up on the couch watching the ball drop as we welcomed 2017... i know we're lame and don't go out on new years.
2017 was a year of change. a year of accepting and moving on. a year of learning... learning that some things that are broken cannot be fixed or put back the way they were before... they just stay broken and you figure out how to adjust. and through this adjusting, some relationships become strained and others are strengthened and it is what it is.
despite these challenges, 2017 was an amazing year. a year filled with so much excitement. new babies. weddings. family and friends. new jobs. vacations. so much laughter. some tears. and our engagement! overall it has been incredibly rewarding.
with 2018 on the horizon, we have so much to look forward to... you know, like a wedding in the dominican republic... but i've also been doing a lot of thinking about my resolutions for the upcoming year. my goal is to do better at enjoying the simple things in life.

january was the first full month i started crossfit, kitchen renovations began and i started a per diem surgical icu position.
february was an exciting month as i officially became an aunt (well, kind of... ben's brother had a baby) and little colton james stole our hearts. the patriots also made a comeback to win the super bowl that even i was impressed with.. and i have zero interest in football.
march we participated in our first crossfit open experience and i managed to come in 25th in massachusetts for the scaled division.
april we headed to punta cana with my mom and brothers for an awesome getaway, visited portland, maine for the first time which was amazing and watched my friend kate look beautiful on her wedding day.
may we participated in a rowathon for autism and rowed an entire marathon, my little brother graduated college and we celebrated mother's day with my mom and soon to be mother-in-law.
june brought the most beautiful little girl, ella lynn, into the world, we headed to laconia, new hampshire for my first motorcycle week and participated in a motorcycle ride for the special olympics.
july brought my most favorite memory of 2017... our engagement in nantucket and the most amazing trip away.
august started the beginning of a long 6 months of training for ben, we watched my friend sarah marry her college sweetheart with the most beautiful views of the white mountains and celebrated ben's 30th brithday.
september we celebrated another wedding for our friends darryl and cait and took our annual trip to the big e.
october i found and bought my wedding dress, we started a new medical record system at work and somehow all survived, and enjoyed a weekend at applefest.
november we attended the special olympics at gillette stadium, celebrated thanksgiving x3 at our gym, with friends, and with family, and continued our black friday shopping traditions.
december we escaped to boston for a magical christmasy night away, enjoyed hanukkah parties and cookie parties and christmas parties, and celebrated christmas with both ben and i off with our families.

long walks with the puppies. coffee dates. more reading and less television. organizing and decluttering. girl time. workouts that almost kill me. day trips to boston and spontaneous adventures. completing house projects. more cooking and less eating out.
i know this year will be the best one yet. i wish you all a 2018 filled with health, excitement and so much happiness. cheers!
